The siberian tiger
Panthera Tigris Altaica

siberische tijger

The Siberian lived in South Eastern Russia and the northern part of Mongolia and China. Now the population is shrinked that much he only lives around the river Amur (Eastern Russia), China and North Korea anymore. That's why he's often called Amur tiger. At the moment, there are only 450 specimens of them left in the wild.

This area is called Amur, which is the reason why this tiger now is often called the amur tiger. It's the only tiger that lives in the snow (there is only snow there in the winter). His prey mainly consists of the family of deers that live in the snow and wild swines.

The Siberian tiger is the largest tiger of the eight. He has a length of 2,7 to 3,8 meters (the female is a little bit smaller), a height at the withers of 105 to 110 centimeters and weighs between 250 and 280 kilograms.
